CNC Sunglasses- Cutting V. 0...
Anddddd the wood splintered so horribly that the CNC Mill stopped cutting. I can maybe use this for some.. uh... data collection? On to V... 1.
CNC Sunglasses- Setting Up
I started by scaling the glasses in Maya, using ctrl t to view the dimensions in centimeters. It's roughly 17 cm across and half a centimeter thick.
I exported the file as a .stl for the CNC cutter to read
I needed a material for the first draft, and I didn't want to waste time carving a 2 x 4. Instead, I cut out 2 pieces of plywood a little larger than my sunglasses.
After tacking the pieces together with spray adhesive, I left them in a vice overnight. Each slab is about a quarter centimeter thick, so I glued them together to get a half centimeter of thickness.
